History
Pleasanton, Texas is a city in Atascosa County. Pleasanton's official motto is "The City of Live Oaks and Friendly Folks." It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pleasanton was incorporated in 1917.
Pleasanton was established in 1858 and was named after John Pleasant, an early settler.
Pleasanton was an incorporated town in east central Atascosa County on the north side of the Atascosa River from the adjoining and much larger Pleasanton. North Pleasanton was platted in 1913 by the Nueces Valley Town site Company a year after the San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Railroad built through Pleasanton and served as the location of the railroad roundhouse and maintenance shops, which employed many of the town's first residents.
