Castle Hills, Texas is an independent city, completely surrounded by the city of San Antonio. It is bisected into a northern and southern half by interstate highway loop I-410 and is located on Interstate Loop 410 nine miles north of downtown San Antonio in northern Bexar County.
The area was originally settled in the early 1920s by a handful of families attracted by the plentiful water supply provided by the Olmos Creek. Many of these first families of Castle Hills were tied to the oil industry.
