History
La Vernia, Texas is on the south bank of Cibolo Creek at the junction of U.S. Highway 87 and Farm Road 775, fifteen miles north of Floresville in northern Wilson County.
The origin of La Vernia came from the town’s people that noticed the land was full of green oaks and in Spanish “La Vernia“ means green oaks.
La Vernia incorporated around 1980, and in 1990, had a population of 639 and thirty-six businesses.
